Alice Monroe Obituary


Alice Gwendolyn Shriver-Monroe was born on October 23, 1951 in Corpus Christi, TX. She passed on December 26, 2020 at the age of 69 from natural causes peacefully at home in her sleep. Gwen is the daughter of Helen and John Shriver . She has two brothers, Clifford Shriver wife (Colloena Shriver), John Shriver wife (Robin Shriver). Gwen was Married to Albert Monroe and had three children; Ernest Dwyane Monroe wife (Jennifer Monroe), John Earl Monroe wife( Jessica Monroe), Pamela Sue Alvarez-Monroe . six grandkids; Alisha Franice, Aaron Alvarez, Matthew Monroe, Charlotte Monroe , Aiden Monroe, and Alex Monroe. Gwen was raised at St. Peter's By The Sea United Methodist Church. She was in United Methodist Women, She was also in the United States Air Force where she retired after 3 years 6 months and 29 days. She always helped others when they need it. She played D&D with her friends and loved drinking french vanilla coffee, watching Netflix, and playing on the computer. She was also part of the church choir. She would always sing on Fathers day and Pass over. She would volunteer for the church and help with Mission of Mercy. She went on her Walk to Emmaus, and went to a Willy Nelson concert and loved it. Her favorite bible verse was John 3:16 "For God so Loved the World That he gave his only begotten son that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." Gwen was in Order of the Eastern Star and in Red Hats. She loved to travel and had been to Germany and Paris twice, once with each of her sons when they were stationed there. Gwen had a chance to see all three of her kids get married, and saw one of her grandchildren be born. She spent her time with her daughter and with her two grandsons in Corpus Christi. A memorial service will be held in Summer of 2021.
