Anna (Kauffman) Ponce

Anna Ponce, 68, passed away on August 3rd, 2022, in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Anna was born on September 19th, 1953, in Bangkok, Thailand, to Ray and Diana Kauffman. Raised by a Thai caretaker, she spoke a mix of Thai and English upon her family's return to the United States in 1955.

The Kauffman family lived in Washington, D.C., for two years before being deployed to the Pacific Island of Saipan. In 1959, the family returned to settle in Williamsburg.

Anna grew up in the Williamsburg area and graduated high school circa 1971. In the following years, she began an esteemed career in aviation.

Anna embarked upon her career as a flight instructor, later towing targets over the Atlantic Ocean for Navy target practice. Impressed by her eclectic experience, including flying charters and couriers, she was promoted to Captain at Midstate Airlines within a short time.

After the birth of her daughter, Amy Ingraham, Anna retired from her role as a commercial airline pilot to become a full-time mother. Later, she channeled her passion for helping others as a licensed massage therapist.

Anna was best known for her grace, bravery, empathy, and generosity, as well as for making the people in her life feel seen, heard, and valued. She inspired others with her sense of adventure and resilience. And she could liven up the dance floor at any event.

Anna was passionate about her love for animals, especially her cats Zulie and Gabby. She collaborated with the local organization F.E.R.A.L.S: For Every Rescue A Life Saved.  Memorial donations can be made to Generous, in Anna's name, by following the link below.

Anna is survived by her brother Ray Kauffman, daughter Amy Ingraham, and extended family. She will be missed greatly by her family and friends all over the world.
