Barbara (Presley) Britt

The family of Barbara (Barbie) Presley Britt announce the passing off their loved one on December 9th, 2021. Barbie was born in Dallas, Texas on May 5th, 1949 to Jim and Betty Presley.

Barbie is survived by her twin sons, Stephen and Sean of Lubbock and Corpus Christi, Texas, respectively, along with their wives, Wendi and Cristy Britt; her brother, Randy; her brother Ronnie, his wife Nancy, and their two children, Cory and Matt. In addition, Barbie was blessed with six grandchildren, Spencer, Boston, Orion, Alyssa, Emerson, and Keira.

Barbie dedicated her life to education, obtaining her Bachelor’s degree and teaching certificate from Corpus Christi State University in 1986. She taught at Tuloso-Midway in Corpus Christi, Texas from 1986 until 1997 and then at the Eanes Independent School District in Austin, Texas as a specialist in dyslexia and dysgraphia until her retirement in 2012. She took great pride and enjoyment from coaching cheerleading, beginning with the nationally competitive squad from Tuloso-Midway in 1995-1996 and continuing with the squad at Austin - Westlake High School. Her passion for teaching and coaching left indelible and lasting memories on her students, athletes, colleagues, and friends.

Barbie was also a vibrant member of her church, working with the acolytes and Sunday school of The Church of the Good Shepherd in Corpus Christi from 1984 until she moved to Austin, where she became of member of the congregation of St. Luke's on the Lake until moving back to Corpus Christi in 2014.

A memorial celebration and rite of committal will be held at 11AM on Saturday, December 18th, 2021 at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd at 700 South Upper Broadway, Corpus Christi, Texas, followed by a reception in the church parlor for all attending.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America (alzfdn.org) or a charity of one’s choice in memory of Barbara Presley Britt.
