Bernardo S Ornelas, 84, passed away this Friday, July 9, 2021, in Corpus Christi, TX, surrounded by loved ones.
Bernardo was born on August 14, 1936 in Corpus Christi, TX, to parents Antonio Ornelas and Josephine Ornelas.
After graduating from Roy Miller High School, he went on to earn a degree and started working as a Machinist, both at Coastal Ironworks where he helped build the Harbor Bridge, and at the Reynolds Aluminum Plant.
Bernardo was formerly married to Daisy Cox.
A favorite pastime of Bernardo was his love of hunting with his tracking dogs.
He would go on and serve our country during the Korean War through the Army Branch from 1954-1957.
Bernardo is survived by his daughter, Katrina Shirley, her husband, James Shirley, and their two daughters Taylor and Brandy.
He is also survived by both his sisters, Libby Cooper and Rosa Ornelas.
Bernardo is preceded in death by his father, Antonio Ornelas, his mother, Josephine Ornelas, and his younger brother, Ricardo Ornelas. Both brothers were close and would have breakfast daily.
Bernardo S Ornelas lived a long and full life, and will be missed.
A graveside service will be held at Memory Gardens on July 23, 2021 at 10am.
