Betty Jo McElvany, 93, passed peacefully in her Portland, TX home on September 11, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on February 28, 1929 in Parkersburg, WV, she was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Delma Elliott; her brother, Kermit Elliott; and her son, Buz Jackson. Betty Jo is survived by her two daughters, Venus McElvany and Aunie Davis; her Grandchildren, Hope Davenport, Miranda Davis, Brayden Davis, and Corbin Davis; her Great Grandchildren, Jared McElvany, Shaelei Flores, Logan Davenport, Chloe Davis, Paris Davis, Avah Davis, and Parker Davis; and her Great-Great Granddaughter, Seraphina Flores.
Betty Jo was best known to the community for G.O.E. Loan and Jewelry, a business she owned and operated in Portland, TX from 1981 to 2007 along with her family; and beloved by those close to her for her eclectic collection of Oriental artworks and vast rose garden.
Betty Jo was greatly loved and will be even more greatly missed. The family will have a private memorial service.
