Cynthia Ann Cantu Simmons, dearly beloved mother of Lisa, Laurie, Lindsy, and Leanna passed away on November 15, 2023, at the age of 68. Cynthia was born on September 12, 1955, in Corpus Christi, TX, to Jose and Umbelina Cantu.
Cynthia attended W.B. Ray High School and graduated in 1973. Cynthia loved nothing more than spending time with her family. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, shopping, and going to watch baseball/softball games.
She was a beloved and devoted wife to Lee Simmons for 38 years.
Cynthia is preceded in death by her parents Jose and Umbelina Cantu, her brother Joey, and her daughter Lindsy Simmons. Cynthia leaves behind holding cherished memories; her siblings Adrian, Thelma, Michael (Laura) and Ruben (Joann) all of Corpus Christi, her daughters, Lisa Castillo of Corpus Christi, Laurie Benavides of San Antonio, and Leanna Simmons of Corpus Christi; grandchildren, Aric, Derick, Jaylynn, Denise, and Juan ( Jr.), in addition, five precious great grandchildren, Lucas, Grayson, and Bryce Benavides, Khloe and Kenzo Cage, numerous nieces and nephews.
Cynthia, "Grandma" or "Yaya," was dearly loved by her family and friends, and she will be forever missed.
A mass will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, December 2nd, 2023 at St. John Paul II Chapel in Corpus Christi, TX. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully asks that donations be sent to a charity of your choice.
