Edelmiro Saenz, Sr., aka Mayo, 78, passed away on November 6, 2022 at his home in Corpus Christi, Texa. Mayo was born on September 17, 1944 in Raymondville, Texas to Mr. & Mrs Amalio and Antonia Saenz.
Mayo worked as a heavy machine operator for many years. He loved watching the Dallas Cowboys who were his favorite team. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family. Mayo was an accomplished Golden Glove Boxer during his younger years.
Mayo is preceded in death by his parents, Amalio and Antonia Saenz, and his brothers, Zacarias, Peter and Joe Saenz and his sister, Evangelina Morales.
Mayo is survived by his faithful partner of many years, Linda Mitchell who cared for him until his passing. He leaves behind his only son, Edelmiro (Christine) Saenz, Jr. He helped raise Josh (Sara) Morales, RJ Contreras and Creselda Morales, all of Mathis, Texas.
Also left to cherish his memory are his granddaughters who visited frequently and loved him unconditionally, Kristi (Jason) Orrick, Ember (James) Victoria-Sharon.
Mayo is also survived by his sisters, Janie Espindola, Albert Villarreal, Norma (Rudy) Trevino, Denise (Fidel) Guerrero and Amalia Bautista. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews who were lovingly raised around him.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, December 2, 2022 at 10:30 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 710 S. 19th St., Corpus Christi, TX, followed by the recitation of the Holy Rosary immediately thereafter.
