Eugene Edward Nava, Jr., a beloved brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 3, 2025, in Portland, Texas, at the age of 63.
Eugene was born on May 13, 1961, in Austin, Texas, to Eugene "Gene/Brother" and Encarnation "Janie" Saucedo Nava. He grew up surrounded by his large, close-knit extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents Gene and Janie Nava and sisters, Mary Nava Howard, Virginia "Sookie" Nava Ward and Frances Nava Matheny.
He is survived by his sister Betty Nava Koon and nieces and nephews Jared (Amanda) Howard, Billy (Jennifer) Howard, Marshall (Lauren) Ward, Lorretta (William) Dalrymple, Lorinda Nicole Howard, Robert (Misty) Howard, Penny (Steven) Utt, Mark (Jessica) Matheny, Mary Elizabeth Matheny, and Michael Matheny.
Eugene was known for his kind heart and love of movies, comics, and games. Eugene's memory will live on in the stories, laughter, and love he shared with his family and friends.
A memorial service to celebrate Eugene's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Eugene by making memories with loved ones. A few hours at a theater watching a new movie with popcorn, soda and candy would definitely get his nod of approval.
