On Tuesday, June 21, 2022, Gabriel Claudio, Sr., the greatest man we ever knew, passed on to eternal life at the age of 77. Gabriel was born on January 11, 1945, in Corpus Christi, TX to Lucia Claudio and Guadalupe Martinez. He married his sugarplum, Elisa Lara in 1965. They had two children, Gabriel Claudio and Anita (Tom) Sanchez. Even though he only had two children, he was seen as a father-figure by many.
Gabriel had a successful career with H-E-B, where he worked as a truck driver for 36 years. During his 36 years, he accomplished many things such as being inducted into the H-E-B Truck Driver Hall of Fame in 1987, winning the Spirit of H-E-B Award in 1994, and presenting the Spirit of H-E-B trailer to Charles Butt in 1987. During his free time and after retirement, Gabriel enjoyed traveling the world with his family and friends, volunteering his time at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Gregory, TX, and spending time with his children, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Gabriel was preceded in death by his father, Guadalupe, his mother, Lucia, and four brothers. He is survived by his wife Elisa, his two children, Gabriel Claudio and Anita (Tom) Sanchez, and his grandchildren Gabriel Claudio III, Matthew (Ashley) Claudio, Miranda (Neil) Vasquez, Isabel Sanchez, Hannah (Dominic) Rocha, Katherine Claudio, Michael Claudio, and seven great grandchildren.
A rosary will be held on Friday, June 24, 2022, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Gregory, TX at 10:30 AM, followed by a funeral mass at 11 AM.
