Gregorio Leal Obituary

Greg Leal, age 73, passed away on August 31, 2024.

Greg was born in Corpus Christi, TX to Santos Leal and Elida Leal. Greg married Kelli Leal of Rockport, Texas.

Greg loved fishing, a childhood passion; a time where he and his friends would walk miles to the T-Heads in Corpus Christi, just to spend some time fishing. His love for fishing continues to his home in Rockport where he fished at every opportunity with family and friends.

Greg also had a love of cars and the open road. He loved racing his Camaro and working on cars at his dad's car dealership.

Greg retired after many years of dedicated service to AT&T. After retirement, he decided to complete his life-long dream of being a carney and travel. His new adventure began in 2011 and ended in 2018. He traveled to 48 states and across Canada and his favorite place, Newfoundland, Canada.  Along his journey, he visited the Indy 500, many Nascar and NHRA races, the Corvette museum, Signal Hill and Washington D. C., to name a few. He also spent time with family and friends, new and old. He lived his dream. He took his time; as anyone knows, he always drove 62 mph as that was the sweet spot in his truck, "Frankie." When he came home, Frankie had over 750,000 miles.

Greg spent the later years sharing stories of his adventures and spending time with his grandkids. He taught them fishing, polishing chrome, talk radio (Rush Limbaugh), politics (Trump), pa corn which he made for the grandkids, his love of music and volunteering with Rockport Youth Softball league.

Greg cherished his old and new friendships and loved being with his family and friends. He believed in the saying, "Everything happens for a reason, even when we didn't always know why."

Greg faced life head-on and had no regrets. He always said he had lived a great life!

Greg is preceded in death by his parents, Santos and Elida Leal and his Tia Neta.

Left to cherish the many treasured memories of Greg is his wife, Kelli, his children, Kristin (James) Bridges, William Johnson, Timothy (Kayla) Johnson, Miranda Leal and Matthew (Alexis) Leal. Greg is also survived by his grandchildren, Addison, Avery, Marshall, Boltyn and Eleanor, his sister Irma (Sonny) Sleighter, his nephew Michael Sleighter and his niece, Teresa Campa.

Today and forever more, he is driving to his favorite body of water to fish while he's watching over us all.  And for those that have put up with his humor all these years, "This is Donald Trump and I approve this message."
