Harrison Atkins Obituary

Harrison John (Bud) Atkins
December 7, 1944 - December 13, 2024

Bud was born to Clinton and Vera Atkins in Sault Ste. Marie, MI. He lived there until his senior year in high school when the family moved to Memphis, TN. Upon high school graduation he enlisted in the US Navy and served a tour in the Mediterranean Sea. He was a talented musician and played trumpet in his high school band as well as a Navy Drum and Bugle Corps. He enjoyed singing in his high school choir as well as karaoke at the Rockport American Legion. He was proud of his Navy service and often seen wearing his Navy hat.

He married Nguyen Thi in 1982. They lived and operated various business in Rockford, IL for much of their marriage. They enjoyed trips in their motorhome and eventually settled in Rockport, TX.

Bud was predeceased by his wife, Nguyen; his parents; and his 3 brothers Tom, Gary, and Steve.

He is survived by his 2 sisters-in-law Sally and Sally; a niece and 6 nephews.

Bud lived his life as fully as he could for as long as he could. He will be missed.

We want to thank Caraday of Corpus Christi, Gentiva Hospice, and the Shoreline Hospital ICU staff for their compassionate care of Bud and support to his family and friends. His family is especially grateful for Bud's special friends at Beacon RV Park and Marina for the love and support they have given him over many years.
