In Loving Memory
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Hilda Koberstein, who departed this life on September 15, 2025 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Born on September 11, 1924, Hilda was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend who touched the lives of many with kindness, warmth, and generosity.
Hilda grew up in Montana/Fairmont, West Virginia. She married her husband Edward J. Koberstein in 1961 and moved to California until 2020 when she returned to West Virginia for a few years. Although she was from West Virginia, California was her home. She moved to Texas to be with her son and daughter-in-law in September 2024. Hilda was an avid tennis player, playing almost every day until she was well into her 80s. She enjoyed gardening, word search puzzles and casino games.
Hilda is survived by her only son Joseph P Fleming, Jr and his wife Beverly Fleming of Corpus Christi, TX; her granddaughter, Denise Marie Fleming of Fairmont, WV; her grandson, Joseph P Fleming, III of Fairmont, WV; a great-granddaughter, Megan Reyes, of Riverside, CA; her brother Everet Carpenter of Fairmont, WV and her sister, Shirley Snider, of Fairmont, WV along with several nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
Hilda will be cremated and her ashes taken back to California to be placed at rest with her husband Edward J Koberstein at the Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, California.
