On Tuesday, March, 16, 2021, James Sean Norton, loving father and grandfather, passed away at the age of 62. James was born on December 6, 1958, in Buffalo, New York, to Frederick and Louise Norton. James wasn’t from Texas, but as the adage goes, “he got here as soon as he could”, and was a proud Texan. James had a passion for film, conservative news, and his favorite Texas sports teams; which included the Houston Astros, Houston Texans, Texas Longhorns, and his coveted Houston Oilers. He was an avid music lover and you could frequently find him blaring his favorite tunes while drinking his morning coffee. He was known for his joyful laugh, compassionate spirit, and unwavering love for his family. James found sobriety approximately a decade ago, at which time he became a devote member of the Kerrville substance recovery community. He had a true passion for the twelve-step program and spent his final decade helping many men find sobriety through his role as General Manager of Duncan House Sober Living.
James was preceded in death by his father, Frederick Norton; his mother, Louise Norton (Johnson); and his half-brothers Joseph Mark Eugene Poirier and Lonnie David Mounts.
He is survived by his daughter Leska Christine Vasquez (Norton); his two grandchildren, Leska Kaley Vasquez and Mario Vasquez IV; his brother, Frederick Norton II; his sister-in-law, Lori Norton; his half-sister, Michelle Harrington; his brother-in-law Michael Harrington; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A funeral service for James will be held on Saturday, April 10th, 2021, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in Corpus Christi, Texas. A rosary will be held for James preceding the funeral service commencing at 9:30am; the mass is scheduled to begin at 10:00am. Furthermore, a memorial service will be held at The Outpost Recovery Club in Ingram, Texas, on Sunday, April 11th, 2021, at noon.
Flowers may be sent directly to either service or, in lieu of flowers, a donation can be made in James’s honor via Pay it Forward at www.payitforwardsa.org.
