With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of Jay Fred Thigpen - a beloved father, brother, and son. Born on March 4th, 1966, Jay's adventurous spirit and passion for fishing have left an indelible mark on all who knew him. After a life rich in experiences and cherished memories, Jay departed from this world on February 23rd, 2024, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be remembered.
Jay is survived by his sons, Kirklin (Chyna) Thigpen, Seth Thigpen and Derrick (Amenity) Crider, as well as his siblings Leslie Spencer, Richard (Cindy) Spencer, Ronnie Spencer, Shari Spencer, and Carrie Spencer, his grandchildren Sadie, Amara, Alaric and soon to be Deklin. His family, friends, and acquaintances are united in mourning the loss of a man who brought joy and warmth to all those around him. Jay's devotion to angling and exploration captivated those he encountered, inspiring a love for adventure that will live on in the hearts of many.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jay Fred and Eleanor Thigpen and his brothers Marty Kasson, Teddy Thigpen, Aaron Thigpen and Harry Thigpen.
In the days ahead, the family will be planning a celebration to honor Jay's remarkable life that will be announced at a later date, allowing all who were touched by his presence to come together in celebration of his life and legacy. As we reflect on the joy and laughter Jay brought into our lives, let us find solace in the cherished memories we hold dear. May his spirit find everlasting peace in the vast expanse of the heavens, forever embraced by the beauty of the world he so dearly loved.
