Jerry D. Hulse of Corpus Christi, Texas passed away October 12, 2021, at the age of 81. Born to John and Gladys Hulse in Wichita, Kansas on September 13, 1940. Jerry went on to serve in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers where he developed the skills to make a career as a tool & die maker. Jerry raised his family in Southern California and later moved to San Antonio, Texas where he retired from Texas Tool Makers. Following retirement, he moved to Corpus Christi to enjoy his true passion, fishing.
When Jerry wasn’t fishing, he enjoyed gardening and working in his wood shop. He loved to tinker and invent new gadgets to aid in catching fish, grow tomatoes, or simply solve every day dilemmas. He was proud of the Patent that he received for developing a molding technique to bond two plastics that otherwise could not be bonded.
His children always said that he could make friends with a fence post and that luck was always on his side. More than once, he would call his kids to share a predicament he avoided or an injury received, that for most, would have been far worse or even tragic. He would laugh and say “The beer truck missed me that time” while his kids just shook their heads and the friends he made along the way asked to go on his next adventure.
Jerry is survived by his four children. Dorothy (Harry) Stefanyszyn of Lakeland, TN, Debbie Rupp of Tucson, AZ, Donna (Darron) Poulsen of Apple Valley, CA, and David (Erica) Hulse of Corpus Christi, TX. He also leaves behind nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Preceding him in death are his mother and father and his brother, Prentice.
In lieu of flowers, take someone you love fishing.
