John Burleigh Obituary

John Mark Burleigh, age 68, a resident of Aransas Pass,Texas, died at approximately 10:40 pm on October 29th, 2022. John Mark's death was the result of a fatal automobile accident on State Highway 35 and Oak Lane in Aransas Pass, Texas.

John Mark Burleigh was born April 29, 1954 in Corpus Christi, Texas to parents Dean and Norma(known as Tot) Burleigh. Mark was a true follower of Christ! Not perfect, but forgiven! Mark loved his family, music and the Word of God! At age 6 he sang his "life song" at church, "My best friend is JESUS"! Mark was known for his beautiful bass voice with a deep resonance that few others master. Just five days before his death, he commented that his greatest blessing was that through all of life's struggles, and he had his share and then some, he never lost his faith in God and his love for Him. His goal was to live boldly for Christ the rest of his days! Mission accomplished!

Mark is survived by his 3 children; Chad Burleigh of Aransas Pass, Matthew Burleigh and spouse Cyndi of Aransas Pass, Jana Burleigh and her significant other, Jake Blair of Corpus Christi/Padre Island. Mark also leaves 6 grandchildren; Preston, Morgan, Keegan, Aris, Odin, and Lux-e and 1 great grandchild, Oliver. Mark is also survived by the mother of his children, Debbie Duty Barrett. Other close family surviving him are his father, Dean Burleigh and his wife, Katie, 3 brothers and their spouses, Mike Burleigh, Wade and Jennifer Burleigh, and Timothy and Jeanette Burleigh. He is also survived by his close friend Gail Degrange. Many others remembering Mark include a multitude of nephews and nieces, cousins and friends!

He is preceded in death by his mother, Norma Pauline (1988), his sister, Lois Jean (2011) and sister-in-law, Joyce Burleigh, brother Mike's beloved wife (2021).
