Kathleen June Tijerina, of Corpus Christi, passed away on 29 May 2023. Katie was born in Pillsbury Maine to parents Arthur and Jean Hitchcock.

She went to Dover-Foxcroft High School in Maine and graduated in 1975, later that year she joined the United States Air Force. While at her first duty station, she met her husband John "TJ" Tijerina Jr. They were married at Vandenberg Air Force Base California in 1978. She and TJ would have three children of her their own to include two others from TJ's previous marriage. Katie's only daughter Tobi precedes her in death when she was killed in 1982.

Upon leaving the military she pursued her love for education by earning a Bachelor of Science degree in accounting. For the next 20 years, she would go on to work in the medical field as an office manager for various companies.

Katie made lifelong friends while in the Air Force, in the private sector and in Maine which she kept in touch with up until her death. She was a loving and giving wife, mother and grandmother, and great grandmother. She was an avid reader, and spent her time traveling to visit family in Maine or friends across the country. With TJ by her side, she was most happy doting on her two youngest grandsons and spoke of them often when talking to friends and family.

Katie is survived by her husband, Mother Jean, sisters, Barbara, Cindy, brother in-laws, sister in-laws, sons, John, Andrew, Chris, Jamie, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She will be missed by all who knew her and loved her.

A celebration of her life with be held at 10:00 AM on 5 Sept 2023 at the Texas Veterans Cemetery 9974 I-37 Access Rd, Corpus Christi, TX, United States, Texas.
