Kay Regenold Hailey, 83, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on July 30, 2024, in Portland, Texas. She was born on February 11, 1941 in Corpus Christi, Texas to Porter and LaVon Regenold.
Kay graduated from Ray High School in Corpus Christi in 1959 and went on to raise four daughters. Although she was a draftsman by trade, later in life, she started her career as a Registered Massage Therapist. She absolutely loved massage therapy and went on to practice the vocation for 40 years. Kay was the first person in Corpus Christi to practice foot reflexology and she was very proud of this endeavor, as well as very good at it! It was not uncommon for her to ask someone she just met if she could rub their hands or feet.
Kay was best known for her vivacious, one-of-a-kind personality, her love of all God's animals, and her uncanny ability to make the person sitting next to her feel seen and valued. She never met a stranger. She was the life of the party everywhere she went. A natural optimist, she was a true cheerleader for all her family and friends. Kay had a generous spirit. She routinely donated to those in need over the years and referred to the act of giving as "green energy." Her love of animals was immense and she rescued, fed and took care of many over the years. Last but certainly not least, Kay's love of dancing was unmatched; she danced until she could dance no more.
Some of Kay's famous quotes were "love you more," "thanks for noticing," "woman strong," "they got their father's looks because I still have mine," "it's so good it makes you want to slap your daddy," "dog spelled backwards...," "I'm just right," "you can't should on yourself," "you look like a movie star," and "bye for now."
Kay is survived by her daughters Page (Steve) Hall, LaMar (Billy) Tipton, Spring (Marc) Beckman, and Portia (Tony) Jones; grandchildren Hailey Riedesel, James Saenz, Porter Hall, Kay Wyatt, Bennett Beckman, Amber Jones, Raine Beckman, Bibiana Hudson, Carly Hudson, and Bronson Jones; eight wonderful great grandchildren; and of course, beloved nieces Lori Whitlock, Jessica McDaniel, and Regi Bright, who she loved like daughters.
Kay is preceded in death by her parents, Porter and LaVon, and sisters Sara-Von Harvard and Portia "Popo" Jackson.
A special thanks to Harbor Hospice who cared for mom during her last few months and took care of us during her last days. Another special thanks to Julie Wilson, a very dear friend, who was there every day checking on our mom and guiding us through the hospice process.
A celebration of life will be held on October 19, 2024; details will be communicated to family and friends at a later date.
Memorial donations can be made in Kay's name to coastalbendcasa.org or faithandhopefoundation.org.
