Linda Owen Obituary

Linda Owen, 74, passed away peacefully at her home on August 16, 2024, surrounded by her beloved children and grandchildren. She was born on November 16, 1949, in Corpus Christi, Texas, to James N. and Fannie Estelle Owen.

Linda was married to William G. Stephenson for 12 years, and together they shared three children. She attended W.B. Ray High School and Del Mar College. Linda enjoyed years of employment with The Kerr-McGee Corporation and Owen Sheet Metal Company.

A gifted gardener and crafter, Linda also cherished fishing with her family and friends. Her love for online auctions was well-known, and we quickly learned not to interrupt her while she was bidding, as she had a passion for collecting antique jewelry and dolls. She loved listening to and singing her favorite country gospel music.

Linda treasured gathering with family, where she would share many stories, often expressed with her wit and sense of humor. Animals held a special place in her heart, especially her beloved rescue dog, Annie. She was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church and loved her friends from Church.

She was forever proud of her children, often touting them as "her greatest accomplishment." Linda was a beloved Nana and a natural-born teacher to her eight grandchildren, with whom she loved spending time, playing games, and teaching her dance steps.

Linda is preceded in death by her parents, her son, Darrin Stephenson; and her brothers and sisters: James Owen, Tommy Owen, Robert Owen, Charles Owen, Michael Owen, and Janice Owen.

She is survived by her children, Connie (Thomas) Roy, and Jaime (David) Jones. Linda also leaves behind her beautiful grandchildren: Ruston Roy, Tejay Roy, Kylie Roy, Gabriel Stephenson, Lily Guzman, Zoe Jones, Sadie Jones, and Phoebe Jones, as well as many precious nieces and nephews including Dawn who was like a third daughter and sisters, Dorothy Owen and Norma Newberry.

Per Linda's request, the family will hold a private gathering to celebrate her life.

The family is especially grateful to the dedicated caregivers at New Century Hospice for their kindness, care, and support.
