Louis George Haveman III December 28, 1955 - October 12, 2024
Our beloved Louis George Haveman, III, better known as Louie, passed away on Saturday October 12th, 2024 after a quick and serious illness. He was a resident of Rockport, TX but knew many parts of the world as home.
Louie was born in Okinawa in a Quonset hut on the army base to Louies G. Haveman Jr. and Seiko Nagasaki Haveman in 1955. He grew up by the sea in Okinawa, Fukuoka, Hawaii and hit stateside at 17 for his senior year in Michigan. He was very cold there after being an island guy.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Left to cherish the many treasured memories are loving wife Kay Haveman, his sister Kimiko Haveman Barling, his brother Tom Haveman, many nieces and nephews and dozens of loving friends who will greatly miss him.
Louie was a graphic artist. He worked for Laura S. at International Insights for 20 years. He had strong integrity and amazing loyalty. He loved his career, his boss and coworkers.
Louie was a kind and gentle soul. All kids loved him from the moment they met him; he was not blessed with children of his own. He was constantly learning details about new interests. He would calmly and diligently work toward the perfection of his interests. He was a singer/songwriter with an amazingly intoxicating deep voice paired with his guitar. He was very creative, a Japanese Sumie ink watercolor artist, disc golfer, shore angler, and cornhole champion wannabe.
All of these things will be remembered but most of all, I think he will be remembered for his kindness and loving heart, his willingness to reach out to someone in need, and his great love for his family and friends. He truly was a great man.
