Lucille Drury, 85, passed away on June 30, 2024, in Portland, TX. "Sweet Lucy" was born on October 31, 1938 to Matilda and Otto Hanus, who endearingly called her their little witch for being born on Halloween. She was the youngest of four children.
Lucy was a loving mother and invested much of her life to care for her family full-time. She was President of the PTA almost every year; she donated her time and used her unlimited creativity and sewing skills to provide for her children.
She married Leroy "Roy" Drury Jr., the love of her life, on August 1, 1974 in San Antonio, TX. They moved their family to Flour Bluff in 1976. Through the years, Lucille was active in the community through various hobbies including sewing dresses for dolls and bears for The Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary, crocheting, bowling and T.O.P.S.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her older siblings, her dear husband Roy Drury Jr., and her sons Duane Martin, Bobby Martin, Jr., and Leroy Drury III.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters Peggy Cowan, Bobbie (Cliff) Herald, and Beverly (Kim) Cox, daughter-in-laws Barbara Drury and Tina Martin, as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and many family and friends. She loved them all to the moon and back.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 17, 2024, at 2 p.m. at Grace Community Church in Flour Bluff, TX (1514 Flour Bluff Dr, Corpus Christi, TX 78418).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Heart Association or the charity of your choice.
