Nanette Saffell, died on December 30th, 2022, in Corpus Christi, TX from a brain tumor. She was only 75 years old. The family is deeply saddened and shocked by her passing. Nanette was born on May 8th, 1947.
Nanette is survived and missed by her three children, Michael Larson - son, of San Diego, CA, Jody Zuniga - daughter, of Corpus Christi, TX, and Kimberly Faltermeier - daughter, of Grant, CO. Forever cherished and remembered by her twelve grandchildren, Heather, Michael, Matthew Levi, Ryan, Amy, Jonathan, Kasea, Rylee, Annie, Leo, and Charlie. She had five great grandchildren, Kylee, Mikal, Elijah, Mya, and Olivia. And forever loved by her two sisters, Pamela Taylor - of Oskaloosa, IA, and Julie Kimmett - of Fort Meyers, FL. and last but not least, her beloved black and tan dachshund, Penny.
Nanette is preceded in death by her father, Robert Levernier, mother, Julia Malin, and brother, John.
She was born in Goshen, Indiana. She spent the first eight years of her life growing up in Lansing, Michigan and Bandera, TX but treasured her time growing up in Bandera, TX with her grandparents. She later moved to Oskaloosa, Iowa with her family and spent many years in Oskaloosa. In 1964 she married Keith Larson. They later divorced. In 1985 she and her two daughters moved to Colorado. She later met Ron Saffell and they married in 1991. They later divorced. She lived the remainder of her life in Colorado.
Nanette was a caregiver her whole life so it made sense when she decided to pursue a lifelong career as a nurse and received her degree in nursing as an LPN. She worked in nursing homes, a medical center in Oskaloosa, and after moving to Colorado she worked for skilled nursing facilities and finally ended her career taking care of a long time resident. She retired from nursing in 2010 with more than 30 years' experience.
Some of her greatest joy came from her three children. They enjoyed many trips as a family, from camping in the Colorado Rocky Mountains to skiing at Lake Rathbun. She took her children to many places, Colorado, Michigan, Minnesota, and Arkansas to name a few.
She took an active role in the lives of her grandchildren by sharing her love of food by teaching them to cook and bake. She was always very open and honest about sharing life skills with each of her grandchildren. She also shared her love of dogs with them.
Nanette had a love for travel and would jump at any opportunity to explore. She traveled to many places throughout her life and by many different means. She went on cruises, traveled by car, truck , train, airplane and motorcycle. She was always up for a trip, made you laugh, cried with you and for you and she loved with her whole heart. She was one of the most generous people you would ever meet. She had many friends and never knew a stranger. She had the gift to gab and would comfort you in your time of need anytime of the day or night.
Her legacy will carry on forever reminding us that we need to love one another no matter our flaws, give with all your heart, and love Christ as He loved us.
As was her wish, her body will be cremated and laid to rest in Tulsa, Oklahoma. A memorial will be planned for later this year.
