Orlando Mejia Rodriguez, 63, of Gregory, passed on to eternal life on Friday, August 12, 2022, at Corpus Christi hospital. Orlando was born and raised in El Salvador. Orlando moved to the United States and lived in North Carolina. Orlando then moved to Texas and worked at Portland TV for 17 years. After Portland TV closed, Orlando worked as an infrastructure electrician for Gulf Marine Fabricators in Ingleside until 2012 when he suffered a disabling stroke.
Orlando had met the love of his life, Petra, in 1982 when she came to the TV repair shop. Orlando and Petra started a family. Orlando became a loving but strict father who placed his children first. Orlando enjoyed taking his family to Sunset Lake and vacations.
Orlando bought and remodeled his home in Gregory. Orlando loved working with his hands and built his kitchen cabinets. Orlando also loved grilling and making his homemade beans.
Orlando is survived by his spouse, Petra Lopez Mejia Rodriguez, two sons, Pedro Rodriguez and Rolando Rodriguez, daughter Magnolia Rodriguez from Gregory,
sister Rosa Valladares and brother Rodolfo Rodriguez from El Salvador. Orlando will be missed by his family, friends and co-workers.
Orlando is preceded in death by his father, Roberto Mejia, mother, Susana Rodriguez, two sisters and brother Roberto from El Salvador.
Visitation will be held on Friday August 19 at 9:30 AM at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Gregory.
The recitation of the Holy Rosary will begin at 10:30 followed by a funeral mass. Interment will follow immediately thereafter at Gregory Cemetery.
Honored to serve as pallbearers are Andres Vasquez, Rafael Tagle, Albert Lopez, Jr, Julian Lopez, Jr., Javier Trevino and Juan Leal.
