René Mosley-Smith passed away on Saturday, January 4, surrounded by love. Known for her volunteering, traveling, and athletic talents, René lived a life full of adventure and kindness. She met the love of her life, Glenn, at 23 in New Orleans. They moved to Alaska, falling in love with the state and extending their stay multiple times.
René cherished hiking, camping, and skiing in Alaska, and enjoyed travels to Hawaii and Italy. After 20 years in Alaska, René and Glenn traveled the U.S. in their motorhome for three years before settling in Green Valley, Arizona for 20 years. René excelled in tennis and running, even qualifying and running for the Boston Marathon. She also loved tango and volunteering, helping at the Pioneer Home in Alaska and delivering meals and books in Arizona.
René began experiencing symptoms of Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP) six years ago. Despite the challenges, she remained resilient. After spending time in the hospital, she returned home for her final days, passing away peacefully with her husband, Glenn, sister, Leslie, her grandchildren, Bailey and Samatha, and stepchildren Julie, Cheryl (Mike) by her side.
Left to cherish the many treasured memories of René are her daughter, Michele, step-children, Julie and Cheryl, and cherished grandchildren Samatha, Bailey, Isaac, JP, Glynn, Nick, Chandler, Averie, eight great-grandchildren and three sisters, Leslie, Juli, and Christine.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul Mayeaux and Marion Burgess, and her beloved grandson, Zachary.
In honoring René's memory, we treasure the moments shared, the stories told, and the love woven into every corner of her life.
