Richard Greenwell, 66, passed away on August 20, 2022, in Corpus Christi, TX after a courageous battle with cancer.
In October 2021 Rick declared residency in Texas, but his heart remained in St. Mary's County MD. Family and friends remember Rick as a humble fella with a smile on his face. He was easy going and wore his heart on his sleeve.
Rick was a lifetime fan of the Baltimore Orioles and the Dallas Cowboys. During earlier times, Rick loved playing slow pitch softball, coaching women's softball and throwing both horseshoes and darts. In addition to sports, Rick fostered a passion for gardening, fishing, and crabbing. He took great joy in blessing others with the fruits of his labor.
In Rick's eyes, he was most proud of having served in the US Air Force. He felt his experience there built character and instilled a sense of gratitude for the USA.
The last 6 years have been years of fighting a different battle with immeasurable courage. Rick battled cancer, an unrelenting disease that robbed him of breath, mobility and independence. Rick's smile and love of family shined brightly to the end. Heaven has gained an angel and he is dearly missed.
Richard is preceded in death by his parents George Daniel Greenwell and Helen Connelly, brother Jimmy and sister Patsy. He is survived by his wife Elaine Greenwell, children Christina Greenwell, Lisa Deahl (Matt), Rick Rowley, brothers Dan Greenwell (Sara) and Ben Connelly (Beth Ann) and sister JoAnn Sheehan. He is also survived by his step children David Lozano (Yessica), Jeffrey Lozano (Liliana), Eric Lozano (Lisa), Jeanine Norris, Ashley Smith, 13 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
