Rosie Armijo, age 88, passed away in Ingleside, Texas on June 5, 2022, with her daughter, Grace, and son-in-law, Michael at her bedside. Rosie was born in Las Palomas, New Mexico, to Edwardo and Albita Armijo.
For over 30 years, Rosie worked in nursing at Fort Bayard Medical Center and Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico. She worked hard her entire life, and when she retired, she worked hard to create a welcoming home and garden. She took great pride in creating a beautiful southwestern garden on her acreage overlooking the Organ Mountains. She attended Santa Rosa De Lima Church, where she sang in the choir for years before becoming the leader of the choir. If there's one thing Rosie is most remembered for, it's her love for her family. Rosie was a woman who always had your back. She was there to support you unconditionally. When life seemed to blindside you with undesirable events, Rosie was there for you without complaint, supporting you in your moment of need, not for her own self-gratifying reasons, but because your wellbeing was first and foremost in her mind and heart. She was someone that recognized the goodness, even the greatness in you, especially during the moments you were not willing or able to see it.
She is survived by her daughter, Grace (Michael) Valero; sister, Irene (Lupe) Reyes; brother, Sonny (Connie) Armijo; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Danny Alvarez, and her parents, Edwardo and Albita Armijo.
