Ruben Perez Escalante was welcomed in Our Heavenly Father’s arms on Friday
August 13, 2021 at 12:21 PM at the age of 82.
His Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, September 23, 2021 at 7:00 PM at
Church Of The Overcomer 3310 East Main Street, Alice, Texas 78332.
Military Honors will take place Friday, September 24, 2021 at 10:00 AM at
Coastal Bend Veterans Cemetery 9974 I - 37, Corpus Christi, Texas 78410.
Dad was a God-fearing man, an avid Believer in Our Lord Jesus Christ, who read
the Bible everyday and proclaimed God’s word with family, friends and strangers. He
shared the Gospel by word, deed and handing out Salvation cards. He was a true man
of God and he was not ashamed to spread God’s word.
Ruben graduated from Valley Baptist Academy High School in 1957. Then,
continued to attend the seminary in the same school right after graduation. He then
joined the United States Army. Serving in the Vietnam War - Era from 1960 - 1962 and
was stationed in Germany.
He was a loving and devoted son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, great
grandfather and friend to all. He was an incredible man. Hard working, soul saving
man that never gave up on anything or anyone at all. He will be so deeply missed by all.
He was preceded in death by his wife Armidah P. Escalante, 1934 - 2018. His
parents. Arcadio Escalante, Sr., Herminia Escalante and Antonio Garza Sr. His brothers
and sisters. Maria Escalante, Juan Escalante and Jose Escalante. Amelia Cervera
(Jesse), Antonio Garza, Jr. (Sue), Alicia De Los Santos and Arturo Garza (Tutti).
He is survived by his brother and sister. Andres Garza (Lola), Sara Fernandez,
Arcadio “Cain” Escalante, Rosalio (Rosario) Escalante, Abelizario “Billy” (Ana Lisa)
Escalante and Margarito (Romona) Escalante.
He is survived by his children. Vicente Benito Cadena, Jr. Emilio Elijio Cadena, II.
(San Juanita). Armida Aurelia Cortinas (Steve) and Doña Sol Clugy (Todd). 12
grandchildren: Emilio Elijio Cadena, III. Eric Cadena, Kaysie Alaniz, Katherine ‘Katie’,
Noah, Veronica ‘Roni’, Cecilia ‘Cici’, Teresa ‘Teri’ Cortinas. Steven, Kyle, Margaret and
Christine Clugy. He also had many nieces and nephews.
