Samuel (Whitmire) Whitmire

Samuel S. Whitmire, Jr., 73, passed away on July 8, 2021, in Rockport, TX.

Sam Whitmire was born on August 1, 1947 in Dayton, TX, to the late Rev. Samuel S. Whitmire and Lucy Mae Whitmire.

Sam worked with horses his entire life via his profession and his passion. He greatly enjoyed trail rides with South Texas Trail Riders, and all the people he met along the way.

Sam is survived by his daughter, Sammi Renken and husband Judd Renken, and granddaughter Jacqueline Renken of Chicago, IL; his son, Luke Whitmire and wife Dana Whitmire, and grandchildren Madelin Whitmire and Evan Whitmire of Pipe Creek; his brother, John E. Whitmire and wife Brenda Whitmire of Madisonville; his sister, Josalyn Broyles and husband Cliff Broyles of Nederland; and nieces and nephews Jeff Whitmire and wife Lee Whitmire, Amanda Whitmire, Allison Basinger, Megan Lockwood and husband Eric Lockwood, David Broyles, Derek Beard and wife Mel Beard, and Petrina Cleary; along with 15 great nephews and nieces.

Sam is also survived by family of the heart bound to him by love Jerry Balderree, Debra Waller, Justin Balderree, Chris Balderree, Kathy Balderree, and dear friends Joe and Pat Natus.

Sam is preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Samuel S. Whitmire and Lucy Mae Whitmire, brother David Whitmire, and sister Faye Beard.
