Shirley Thomas Obituary
Shirley Marie (Wade) Thomas was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother, and friend. She left this world peacefully surrounded by her family after a long seven-year battle with cancer on November 18, 2022, at the age of 80.
She was born to Granville Wince and Jimmie Lois Wade on April 21, 1942, in Hanford, CA. After graduating from Mary Carroll High School in 1960, Shirley started her career in bookkeeping for the Channel 10 News. She later went on to work for Jim Farris, Maverick Construction, Wilke Tire Service and ended her career as the Executive Administrator to the Financial Director of the Corpus Christi Independent School District.
Shirley loved the Lord and was a proud member of the Lexington Baptist Church where she enjoyed her weekly women's Bible study group. She was a member of CESSA (Costal Educational Support Staff Association) and served as past president for several years, where she enjoyed helping raise money for student scholarships. Shirley was one of the founding members of the "Bunco Babes", enjoying her monthly games with friends. Upon retiring, Shirley had many memorable road trips with childhood best friend Adell Reeves and husband Herb. They loved playing domino train along the way.
Shirley is survived by her five children; Son - Keith Thomas Sr. and wife Angela of Lakewood Village, TX; Daughter - Kathy and husband Chad Mitchell of Odem, TX, Daughter - Karen and husband Jeremy Harris of Corpus Christi, TX, Son - Kevin Thomas and wife Emilie of Krum, TX, Son - Kyle Thomas of Denton, TX. Grandchildren: Keith Thomas Jr., Devin Ybarra, Ally Thomas, Drake Ybarra, Stacey Thomas, Josh Harris, Luke Mitchell, and Kaden Harris.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents Granville Wince and Jimmie Lois Wade and her daughter, Shirley Marie Thomas, known by family as "Baby Shirley."
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Yvonne Manalo, Dr. Rafeael Berio-Muniz, Tammy Wall Pa-C & Devoted Healthcare & Hospice (Crystal Young RN, Corina CNA, Jessica LVN, Steven LVN) for their excellent care.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2022 from 9:00-10:00 am at Lexington Baptist Church, 3525 S Padre Island Dr. Corpus Christi, TX 78415, immediately followed by a memorial service.
Per Shirley's wishes, she will be laid to rest soon at Pleasant View Cemetery, aka Jawbone, Blanton, Hill County, TX.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Shirley's name to Lexington Baptist Church.
