Violet "Joan" Chabra (nee Heineman) passed away peacefully in the presence of family on February 25, 2024, in Corpus Christi, TX, at the age of 89. She was born on March 29, 1934, in Compton, California.
Joan lived a full life and looked forward to eternal life with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. One of her favorite Bible promises is from Romans 8:38-39, "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."
Joan graduated from Rosemead High School in 1951. She went on to complete a course in Vocational Nursing at Compton College in 1954, and she graduated from the Los Angeles General Hospital School of Nursing in 1958. As a registered nurse for over 50 years, Joan cared for countless others with love and compassion. She enjoyed cooking, traveling, and being a mother. She especially loved her grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter Christine Ely (nee Farley) and son Joseph Farley; grandchildren Rachel Merrell (nee Ely), Danielle Ely, Austin Farley, and Tyler Farley; sister Sandi Noltenmeier (nee Heineman); and many nieces and nephews.
Joan was preceded in death by her father Marvin F. Heineman and mother Thyra F. Heineman (nee Johnson); sisters Marion Ames (nee Heineman) and Barbara Baxter (nee Heineman); brothers David Heineman and Fred Heineman; stepsons Douglas M. Farley, Jr. and Robert C. Farley; and her husband George Chabra, Sr.
