Virginia “Ginny” Powers Haley, 78, of Rockport, TX passed away peacefully on December 11, 2021, surrounded by her family. Ginny was born in Whiteville, NC and grew up in Chadbourn, NC.
After graduating from college, she enjoyed an adventurous life while living in St. Croix, U.S.V.I., Jamaica, West Indies and Rockport, Texas. Ginny worked as a Secretary & Bookkeeper for most of her life, ending that career at Live Oak Bank in Rockport. She later worked as an Account Clerk and Secretary for Texas Parks & Wildlife while also giving tours at the Fulton Mansion in the Rockport area. For a brief time, she returned to Chadbourn and enjoyed several years with The News Reporter while reporting on social events in the area. Ginny then retired to Rockport to be with her children and grandchildren. Ginny enjoyed many years of involvement in the Chadbourn Strawberry Festival, the Rockport Fulton High School Band Boosters, and many other community events as well as the church. Ginny will be missed dearly and always remembered.
